Dr. Sofia Kalkstein
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Sofia Kalkstein earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1995. With three decades of experience, she has worked in various roles, including practice ownership, serving as an emergency room doctor in a specialty clinic, and a residency in Anatomic Pathology. Sofia finds great fulfillment in treating a diverse range of species, from furry friends to feathered and scaly companions, with a particular passion for canine and feline internal medicine, surgery, and caring for senior pets.
Dr. Sofia has practiced in several parts of the country including Connecticut, Fort Collins, New York and Washington but she is so proud to call Boulder home for the past 3 years. She is so excited to join the team at North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital and is looking forward to meeting and caring for you and your beloved pets.
Outside the hospital, Sofia cherishes time spent with her family which includes two daughters, a Chihuahua named Gordito and a cat named Willow who was bottle fed. True to her New York origins, Sofia enjoys cooking and savoring delicious food, as well as listening to music and going to concerts especially if they are at Red Rocks.
